That's why pics need to be updated on a somewhat regular basis. Plus, recommendations are key to help determine if someone is real and appears like the pics they post
I cantcstand fake profiles ie old farts in there 70s passing of as blokes in 50s you go through arranging a meet ac geratric on a mobility scooter drives up your path expecting you to wrestle yuck 🤮
ha ha how bad you are, you have a snake on your tongue, although it is very funny how you write it.
In any case, it's how you take it, you can always organize an electric car fight.
I agree about faking, but it is not just old people who fake photos [I've dated my photos]. I know a couple of guys using the same photo they had when I wrestled them during an earlier time here and they are now in their forties, not seventies,
Speaking specifically of the Australian segment of the site, I would guess that at a minimum one in ten 'profiles' are in fact fakes. What the person[s] who created them gets out of doing so, I have no idea, but it does waste genuine peoples' time.
Finally good luck with your own contax... Dominic
I am actually quite embarrassed by our Australian counterparts on this site. You say there are maybe 1 in 10 fakes listed in our country, that may be so, but worse are the huge number of guys who simply do not meet anyone! They have been listed here for 9 or more years and not had a single opponent.
Out of 16 pages of Australian members there was the smallest handful who were keen and reliable fighters, but then came covid and since then they are pretty much totally inactive.
As for the new recruits who think this site is another Grindr, they can't even be bothered to post a pic or fill out their profile.
Then we have the ones saying they are keen to learn, willing to take on anyone, want someone who can coach them, yet when sent a message it goes unanswered, and years later they still have zero opponents.
I can count the number of truely active wrestlers in Sydney on one hand, and maybe 2 hands for the entire country.... so much for being the sporting nation of bronzed Aussies!
Oh this is not Grindr?? By the way the newbie’s treat it, they should change the name. But I have been very lucky to lately to wrestle some great guys, local on travellers. The fake profiles and making excuses that you can’t travel outside the backyard, well everyone is expected to come to you. Then the I am available between 1:15pm and 1:45pm on the last Monday of the year, stop making excuses.
Thank you to the genuine guys out there that wrestle, it’s been a privilege to get on the mats. The only ones I have ever regretted, have been glorified Grindr guys.
Very true. I could point to a couple who are still using photos that are like 20-30 years old. Like old-school, film photos originally scanned in from a decade before smart phones existed. I'm in my mid-40s now, and these guys were using the same ones back on Globalfight (when it was still called Vangar) when I was still in college. They are in 90s clothing and everything.
To me that's just misrepresenting yourself. Nobody looks the same 20 years later.
I've also had people steal my photos and use them as their own before. It's one of the main reasons I won't post pics with a face anymore (no matter who whines about it) and will be pretty selective about who I send them to. Can't stand guys like that who waste peoples time and ruin things for others just because they are frauds and cowards.
Yeah but the catfish comment is bang on, some guys have photos 10 years plus out of date then when you meet after he’s given all the mouth, something out of shape and tottering comes towards you, I like a challenge, but I’m not into seal clubbing
Totally agree with you Cyclone74.
Excuses are just that... excuses.
I receive a lot of messages from guys "wishing they were big", "wishing they had opponents"; "wishing they were closer" (meanwhile they are less than 10 miles away)
My answer is: make your wishes come true my friend! We only live once.
There's always time for everything when you have the willingness and love to do it.
Yeah I even eventually had to put that in my profile, telling guys not to bother messaging me just to tell me what they "wish" would happen. Since I'm not a genie in a magic lamp, I'm not in the business of granting "wishes".
The other one I get a lot of is people telling me what they think is "a shame". As in "it's a shame we aren't closer" or "it's a shame you don't visit my country". Nine times out of ten it's coming from someone who I've never spoken to and who I wouldn't be remotely interested in, so it may be a shame for them, but it's not a shame for me. I just don't understand what their objective is in a message like that.
Oh, you wish I would do something and it's a shame that it's not going to happen? Well let me just hop on my private jet, and fly halfway around the world to someplace convenient to for you and then engage in any fantasy you've dreamt up... even if I'm not remotely into you or that activity.
My PT told me once, if you can’t drive to the gym, catch the bus. If you miss the bus, then do a workout at the bloody bus stop.
Yes we are all busy, no opponents and complain about no one to wrestling. Maybe do something about it!!
I have been very fortunate to meet some amazing guys here, all from opening my mind and possibly of meeting new friends. Since Covid, it’s been great to hosting traveling wrestlers in my home. These experiences for them and myself have been worth opening up my house to stay.
Thank you to my new friends that have given me hope, yes there is good guys out there.
